Cardinals in our backyard. Late June, I was trimming the bushes (honeysuckle) and there was a cardinal nest and baby  chicks were outside of their nest which was heavily infested with ants. So I took chicks in and placed them in the bamboo bird cage which I happened to have hoping their parents would continue feed them. Sure enough, as soon as I put the cage outside, parent cardinals came by and started to feed the chicks. I would be releasing those chicks as soon as they become able to fly. Cardinals are Indiana state birds.

A  sapsucker

This bird! Nasty pest! They are called Sapsuckers and they are one of  wookpeckers. They are small birds, but their peckin' is BIG!. Every October and November  or so, they start drummin' which is a love call by peckin' on woods. And guess what, our house is sided by woods. It's a good place to drum for mates. I've got about 15 or 20 woodpecker holes on our sidings. Those birds are federally protected! Give me a break! :)
